St. Vincent’s Medical Center (SVMC) is a member of Ascension (www.ascension.org) a faith-based healthcare organization dedicated to transformation through innovation across the continuum of care. As the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system, Ascension is committed to delivering compassionate, personalized care to all, with special attention to persons living in poverty and those most vulnerable. In FY2016, Ascension provided more than $1.8 billion in care of persons living in poverty and other community benefit programs. Ascension includes approximately 150,000 associates and 36,000 aligned providers. Ascension’s Healthcare Division operates 2,500 sites of care – including 141 hospitals and more than 30 senior living facilities – in 24 states and the District of Columbia, while its Solutions Division provides a variety of services and solutions including physician practice management, venture capital investing, investment management, biomedical engineering, facilities management, clinical care management, information services, risk management, and contracting through Ascension’s own group purchasing organization.

SVMC offers regional centers of excellence in cardiology, surgery, cancer care, orthopaedics, family birthing, behavioral health, and an array of specialized services. SVMC comprises: 

 

  • St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a 473-bed community teaching and referral hospital with a Level II trauma center, providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient services with more than 50 medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.

  • St. Vincent’s College, which provides associate degree programs in Nursing, Medical Assisting, Radiography, and General Studies as well as online bachelor’s degree completion programs in Nursing, Radiologic Sciences, and Healthcare Leadership.

  • St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation's primary purpose is to raise funds in order to help meet certain financial needs of St. Vincent's Medical Center. The Foundation, which sponsors St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound, offers cancer prevention and patient support programs for un- and under-insured area residents.

  • St. Vincent’s MultiSpecialty Group is a clinically integrated network of primary care and specialty care providers in the community and in the hospital

  • St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services (SVSN), a major provider in southern Connecticut of specialized lifelong education and therapeutic programs for children and adults with multiple developmental disabilities.
