Program Overview
- 10 week volunteer summer program
- Work one on one with a dedicated RN mentor 24 to 40 hours per week
- Assist in the delivery of both direct and indirect nursing care
- Participate in simulation education and training
- Attend seminars and Nursing Grand Rounds
- Exposure to a Magnet Hospital Environment
- Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives
- Work on a unit based project and present findings

Entry Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a BSN program
- Completed Junior year of BSN program
- Meet SVHS health requirements
- Clinical faculty reference
- Satisfactory academic record (3.0 GPA)
- Copy of current transcript
- Completed application
Application Process
Applicants that have supplied all of the materials below and meet the program’s eligibility requirements will be contacted for an interview with the selection committee.
Choice of candidates and notifications will be made by April 3, 2018. Selected applicants will need to provide an acceptance decision by April 10, 2018. The Volunteer Student Nurse Internship Program begins on May 21, 2018 and ends on August 3, 2018.
