St. Vincent’s Medical Center is proud to have been the first hospital in the region to offer Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure as an alternative to surgery for cardiac patients suffering from Aortic Stenosis. Our cardiac care team is the state leader in performing this safe, minimally invasive procedure.
Help for Your Heart
When your aortic valve is obstructed or narrowed, your heart works harder to pump the blood to the rest of your body. This puts a strain on your heart and can weaken your heart muscle, leading to other symptoms such as fainting, chest pain and shortness of breath.
TAVR offers help for your heart and new hope for you or your loved one who, due to age or mitigating health complications, cannot undergo traditional open-heart surgery. While aortic valve replacement, the most common method for treating aortic valve stenosis, has traditionally required open-heart surgery, St. Vincent's Medical Center’s minimally invasive TAVR alternative has proven to significantly improve quality of life and survival rate among our patients.
