Procedure Education

St. Vincent’s Joint Replacement Center knows that mobility is something we take for granted until injury or illness threatens to take it away.

With that in mind, we offer free seminars to the community as well as pre and post-op education classes to prepare you for Total Knee or Total Hip Replacement surgery.

Joint Replacement Pre-Op Classes

St. Vincent's Medical Center believes in the power of education, providing a pre-operative class that covers everything that you need to know. Those who attend will be instructed about the joint replacement process from admission to discharge. You have the option of watching a series of videos from the comfort of your own home, or dialing in to one of our phone sessions, presented by our Orthopaedic Navigators.

Our goal: To provide you with seamless, compassionate care based on best-practices and latest techniques and to see you on your road to recovery. Soon, you’ll be enjoying your life and the activities you love. Our classes are scheduled at various times of the day; please contact an Orthopaedic Navigator to schedule your session, or click on this link below to view our online videos. Be sure to submit your completion at the end of the session!

Online Joint Replacement Video Series

A series of videos to prepare you for your joint replacement operation.

Meet Your Team

Before your Hip or Knee Replacement Surgery, we invite you to meet some of the members of our team at a free class where you’ll learn everything about your upcoming surgery:

  • One of our Physician Assistants will review a patient's joint anatomy.
  • An operating room nurse will discuss what to anticipate in the operating room. One of the orthopaedic floor nurses will discuss the hospital stay on the unit post-operatively.
  • We’ll tell you and your family what to bring (and not bring) to the hospital.
  • What you can expect during the surgery and in-hospital stay. When you are ready for discharge, we will arrange for your every need and give you contact information for any questions that may arise at home. The Case Manager will talk to you about your plans after the hospital.
  • One of the Physical Therapists will discuss your rehabilitation program. We’ll give you tips about what you can do at home to maximize your journey back to an active lifestyle including our post-op Joint Camp group exercise class.
  • Don’t be surprised when you receive an invitation to our Alumni Luncheon. Please try to join us because we love seeing your progress after you have been home for a while. You will probably see some of your fellow campers there too!
