Kathy underwent some hardships earlier in her life and became a closet eater. She was always successful at losing weight, just not successful at keeping it off. She had type II diabetes and cholesterol problems.
It was an emotional rollercoaster all the time. It's been five years and 120 pounds since she had the lap band procedure at St. Vincent's Medical Center's Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, and with the help of our Connecticut weight loss center's bariatric surgeons, she is back to living life the healthy way with her four children and five grandchildren. "When I walk into a room I don't feel conspicuous," Kathy said.
"Before, when I walked into a room, I could tell I was being judged by my size. I can be the person I've always been inside and I can be that person outside." These days she walks on her lunch break at work and rewards herself at night with a good book and the company of her two dogs, Toby and Abbey.
