Worship, Meditation & Grief/Bereavement Services

St. Vincent’s multi-faith pastoral care provides solace for patients and their loved ones.

Worship & Meditation at St. Vincent’s

The Virginia O’Brien Fortin Chapel is always open and available to persons of all faiths. The chapel accommodates seating for 45 worshipers and its warm décor, stained glass and style offers a spiritually uplifting welcoming atmosphere. The chapel’s domed or barrel-vaulted ceiling creates an open, inspired effect.

The chapel is located next to the Pastoral Office on the Main Level of the Medical Center, just past the main lobby.

For private prayer and reflection, our Meditation Room is available across from the Chapel on the Main Level of the Medical Center.

  • Prayer Services: Every morning and evening overhead daily at 8 AM and 8 PM.
  • Daily Mass: Celebrated in the Chapel weekdays at noon, Saturday at 3:45 PM and Sunday at 8:00 AM. Also available in-room on TV Channel 54.

About the Virginia O’Brien Fortin Chapel

St. Vincent’s Medical Center was opened on June 28, 1905, under the supervision of The Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. Since 1617 when the Daughters of Charity was created in Paris, France, it has been an organization experienced in the care of the sick. The original hospital had a chapel on its third floor, and the sisters had their quarters on the same floor. Since that time, the chapel has continued as the spiritual hub of the Medical Center.

The realignment of the Medical Center’s main level, part of its $160 million renovations required the move of its chapel. The Chapel is now located on a corridor off the main lobby. It also provided the opportunity for the creation of this new modern facility, serving the needs of patients, visitors and employees of diverse faith traditions, but also reflecting the strong Catholic identity and mission that characterizes St. Vincent’s.
