Joseph Vitterito, MD

Dr. Vitterito received his medical degree from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth University and completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in Neonatology/Perinatal Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Vitterito is board certified in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine.

Dr. Vitterito comes to us from Elliot Hospital, Manchester, New Hampshire, where he was an Attending Neonatologist of a 31 bed Level III unit. He has also served as an Attending Neonatologist at the Juan F. Luis Hospital, Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands, providing neonatology services in their Level II/III nursery at the only hospital on St. Croix. Dr. Vitterito provided essential services prior to, during and after the latest hurricanes impacting the island in the Fall of 2017.

Our new affiliation with Connecticut Children’s completes us by ensuring neonatal specialists are in place to provide around-the-clock physician staffing within our NICU. St. Vincent’s certified Level III NICU is equipped with the most advanced medical facilities and a highly trained staff who are experts at providing the best care for high risk newborns. For those babies who require a more intense level of care, our alliance ensures that St. Vincent’s patients will have direct access to Connecticut Children’s highest level NICU in Hartford.
